Here’s a story i’ve been sitting on for half a year — and now it seems everybody else is posting it without asking me first
. On New Year’s Eve, at 23:59:59 UTC we will have an extra second to celebrate when only the coolest and most atomic, NTP’ed clocks will show the rather funky reading 23:59:60. The last leap second was on new year’s eve 1998-99 but then i wasn’t exactly blogging yet (but i was at Taj Mahal, India, which must count for some coolness).
NPL Time Metrology has the truth (and so does Wikpedia, unless you are of the suing kind, and Physorg).
Technorati tag: leap second
