Update: The DNA model is not appropriate for teaching your toddler about the building blocks of life, since it’s left-handed! Not knowing anything about knitting, i wonder if it’s easy to make the knit DNA strand spin the right way…

Igår, strax före jag drog iväg till doonet buuttade jag upp min gamla deskare (ja, PC) så att frugan skulle ha nåt att surfa på medan jag var borta.

Knaster-poks-piff-paff-poff. Rutan lät som popcorn i närbild och jag beslöt att dra ur strömkabeln före den magiska röken kom ut. Så nu lever jag i mörker och utan display.

Tackålov vill min hustrus systers karl bli av med en monitor nästan lika mycket som min hustrus syster som tycker att monitorer inte passar in i vardagsrumsbilden…

ladies and gentlemen, is UN Day, and i’d like to tip my hat to all the friends and colleagues i got while working for UNDP half a year ago.

To me, UN is a great organization which i firmly believe really can bring peace and well-being into the world. Sure, it’s big and bloated, but it’s the best we have. Sure, the Millennium Developent Goals are ambitious, but they should be. There is enough imbalance in this world that we need ambitious goals. We also need ambitious people –both leaders and people in the field– to actually realize these goals.

James Tiberius Kiss-kiss-bang-bang Kirk? I’d bever thunk. The first three are my heroes though If it makes things any better, i am quite unlike The Shadows (Babylon 5) and Quark (Star Trek).

I was organizing my digital photos, which already consist in a considerable mass, when i found some shots from my old job. The modern equivalent of dusting off the pictures and putting them in an album was of course to manipulate them in Gimp and publish them of Flickr

It’s not what you do that changes, it’s how you do it.

One thing that i see though is that i do take better pictures with a real full-size camera that allows me to poke on things like aperture and time.

The players sit around a table. In turn, each participant takes as many sips of beer as is the next decimal of π. If you take the wrong number of sips, you empty your bottle. If your bottle runs dry, you open a new bottle.
